We here at quirkybeijing are dedicated to finding interesting pastries and breads. So here are the latest and greatest:

A bear-shaped pastry at a Holliland bakery. Not very good, actually, although it tasted nicely of eggs.

When bad titles happen to good breads–Crouching Tiger, Hidden Bacon at the Ginza Mall branch of Bread Talk. Did not get to sample this one because I was on my way to dinner and took a stealth photo.

I didn’t even have to eat this to love it. The Hello Kitty cake! also from Bread Talk, priced at a shocking 150 RMB.

From our last entry on coffee boy, Louanne wrote this comment that gave me hope and will probably inspire a trip out to Wudaokou in the near future.

I just went to the Wudaokou Tous Les Jour and they had the Totoro buns. I bought one and it was delicious. It’s in the shopping center across the street from the Wudaokou subway.

Thanks Louanne! I’m convinced that Tous Les Jour does not carry the Totoro bun in the morning or at night, because every time I have been to a Tous Les Jour at those times, I have never seen the Totoro bun. TLJ is actually nowhere near where I live so I tend only to visit at night.
